Emergency Action Plan

Every training or match location should have a simple, known emergency plan before activity starts.

Before Activity

Confirm the exact field address, emergency vehicle access point, nearest practical AED location, first-aid supplies, emergency contact method, weather conditions and who is responsible for calling 911.

Emergency Roles

Designate an adult to lead care within their training, another adult to call 911 when needed, another to meet EMS at the access point, and another to supervise the remaining players.

Calling 911

Call 911 for potentially life-threatening conditions, severe head or neck injury, breathing difficulty, uncontrolled bleeding, seizure, loss of consciousness, suspected cardiac event, heat emergency, severe allergic reaction or whenever the situation exceeds available training.

AED & First Aid

Where available, know the AED location and how to access it. Staff should not perform medical procedures beyond their training. CPR/AED and first-aid training for appropriate staff is strongly encouraged and may be required by a facility, league or governing body.

Parent / Guardian Notification

For a minor, notify the parent or guardian promptly after emergency services are activated or a significant injury occurs. Do not delay emergency care while trying to reach a parent.

After an Incident

Complete an incident report, preserve objective facts, record who was notified, follow concussion or return-to-play restrictions where applicable, and review whether the emergency plan needs improvement.
