Identity & Background Screening
Before regular contact with minor athletes, the club should verify identity and complete any background screening required by applicable law, league, governing body or club policy. Where U.S. Soccer membership or programming applies, the applicable U.S. Soccer background-screening and Safe Soccer requirements should be followed.
Safeguarding Training
Adults with regular contact with minors should complete applicable child-abuse prevention and reporting training before regular contact begins or within any governing-body deadline. SafeSport training should be completed where required by U.S. Soccer, the U.S. Center for SafeSport or an affiliated organization.
Policy Acknowledgment
Coaches, staff and volunteers must review and acknowledge the Youth Safety Policy, applicable MAAPP or equivalent prevention rules, prohibited-conduct standards, reporting duties and the Coach/Staff Code of Conduct.
Access Control
Pending clearance, an adult should not be assigned unsupervised regular contact with minor athletes. The club should maintain a simple clearance roster showing screening/training status and expiration or renewal dates.
Renewal & Removal
Screening and training must be renewed as required by the applicable provider, league or governing body. The club may suspend access while reviewing safety concerns and may remove individuals who fail screening, training, conduct or reporting requirements.
